Whitney Ricard, Registered Psychotherapist, MACP student (she/her)
Clinical Intern - Virtual and In-person sessions (Kakulu and Legget Offices)
Welcoming couples and sex therapy clients
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a specialization in supporting individuals and families navigating challenges related to substance use, emotional regulation, and relationships. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Over the past 15 years, I have worked extensively in the field of addiction and mental health with individuals across the lifespan, including teens, adults, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. My clinical experience includes individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, relapse prevention, and long-term psychotherapy with diverse populations.
Before joining SL Psychotherapy and Wellness, I provided care in a variety of mental health and addiction treatment settings, with a strong emphasis on integrating trauma-informed practices into recovery work. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brock University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Addiction and Mental Health Counselling. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University.
I’m passionate about working with couples and bringing my experience in addiction and mental health into that work. I am also working towards helping clients heal trauma through somatic approaches, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
