Becca Black, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MACP Candidate (she/her)

Clinical Intern - Virtual and in-person sessions (Kanata and Downtown Office)

Accepting new clients for a May start - Individual, teen and couple clients welcome!

In person sessions available Wednesdays and Fridays in Kanata, or Saturday afternoon Downtown.

I aim to support clients as they process and deal with their experiences, heal, and make appropriate and meaningful changes for their future to become the best version of themselves through therapy. I focus on providing a safe space where clients are honoured, supported, and respected as they share their experiences and work toward their goals. Working at SL Psychotherapy and Wellness, my goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental environment for people to discuss what is important to them. I take a collaborative, culturally sensitive, and integrative approach to therapy, tailoring the session based on the client’s unique needs and individuality. My approach is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman method. I am interested in supporting teens and adults dealing with difficult life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, and relational issues.

Before joining the SL Psychotherapy and Wellness team, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Carleton University. I began my work within the helping profession supporting adults with developmental disabilities. I continue to spend my spare time working with children who have autism and volunteering as a crisis line responder, where I create a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients. I am a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, being in nature and spending time with friends and family. I am happy to chat to see if we would be a good fit.
