Where your name, your identity, your relationships… aren’t questioned. Or corrected. Or handled with that awkward pause that makes everything feel smaller than it is.
That’s one of many reasons why SL Psychotherapy and Wellness offers therapy for folks in the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Not because something is wrong with you. Not because being queer or trans or questioning is a problem. But because sometimes, it’s a lot to carry all at once—and no one should have to carry it alone.
With three in-person offices—Kanata, Nepean, and Kanata North—our practice serves the Ottawa area with care that meets you quietly as you are, without the need to defend or over-explain who you are.
Some Things You Might Be Carrying
This isn’t a checklist, just a few things people talk about in therapy here:
- Stress that never really goes away
- Family that doesn’t fully see you
- Relationships that feel off, even if you’re not sure why
- Feeling disconnected from your body, or like you’ve never quite felt at home in it
- Not knowing where to start, but knowing something’s off
Sometimes it’s about the past. Sometimes it’s just about now.
And sometimes it’s not even clear—just a vague stuck feeling, or tiredness that goes deeper than sleep.
All these feelings and perceptions are valid and have a place in therapy.
You Don’t Have to Come In With the Right Words
You don’t have to know how to talk about all of it. You don’t have to label it as trauma, or stress, or anything at all if that doesn’t feel like the right word for your experience.

They listen like humans. They slow down when they need to. They ask, gently, if something feels too much or not enough.
They’re not here to fix you. You’re not broken.
